Schwalbe Says It's New G-One RS Gravel Tire is 20% Faster, Will It Win Unbound?
Schwalbe’s all-new gravel racing tire is the G-One RS and apparently it’s a lot faster. The new tire features a sharkskin file tread down the center for fast-rolling on the straights and variable size angled shoulder knobs for cornering in loose gravel and sand.
Schwalbe claims the new semi-slick has a full 20% reduction in rolling resistance compared to the G-One R which debuted last year at Unbound. Schwalbe-sponsored gravel racer Paul Voss will show us the facts on the Kansas gravel roads this weekend.
The secret to tires speed is the new sharkskin tread down the center. It rolls forward quickly while maintaining enough edge to stick to uneven surfaces. The larger angled shoulder knobs offer enhanced cornering grip, something the G-One has sorely lacked. The shoulder offers increased grip as you lean further.
The new tire shares the Super Race Soupless casing with the G-One R for a supple ride with a light V-Guard anti-puncture belt under the Addix Race tread.
Schwalbe says the new G-One RS gravel tire will be offered in three sizes 35, 40 & 45mm. And the tire has lost a few grams with weights of 410-505g. The bad news? You can’t get any, yet. The new faster G-One RS gravel tires won’t be available until August 2022.
