Zwift Heads to Kona with Kona Heat It Up Mission & Prizes
Zwift Road to Kona 2019
Zwift will be at the 2019 Ironman World Championship with its Specialized Zwift Academy Tri Team. All eight team members are competing as well as mentor, Sarah True.
Pro athletes, Lionel Sanders & Lucy Charles, are featured in a couple great videos on race preparation:
Join in on the Action from Home with the Zwift Heat It Up Mission
Join in for the Kona Heat It Up Mission from October 5th to October 13th. Ride 112 miles//180 km, and run 26.2 miles//42km to complete the IRONMAN World Championship distance and unlock some sweet kit. No need to do it in one go, you can chip away at these distances throughout the challenge, all rides and runs counts.
Zwift Heat It Up In-Game Unlocks
As you progress to the final distance goals more gear will unlock:
Ride Unlocks | Run Unlocks |
25% – ZA Tri Cycling Socks | 25% – ZA Tri Running Socks |
50% – Specialized Cycling Hat | 50% – SiS Run Shirt |
75% – Wahoo Cycling Hat | 75% – Roka GP-1X Sunglasses |
100% – ZA Tri Cycling Hat | 100% – ZA Tri Run Shirt |
The best prize, however, is reserved for those who run and ride: those Zwifters will unlock the ZA Tri Paint Scheme for the Shiv Disc (and an automatic entry to win one of two grand prizes).
Zwift Heat It Up Mission Prizes
If you complete both the run and ride portions of the mission you will be entered into the grand prize drawing. Two winners will receive:
- Wahoo ELEMNT Roam Computer
- Specialized S-Works Evade Helmet
- ROKA GP-1X Sunglass
- SiS Endurance Bundle
- Zwift cycling kit – Domestique jersey and bib
Nice prizes, but I really wish they were giving away one of those Shiv Discs…
Zwift Kona Events
You can complete the mission by riding solo or via group events. For group riders, Zwift has organized a week of Kona-themed events:
- Monday through Friday we’ve got Kona-themed group workouts which alternate between running one day and cycling the next.
- Then Saturday we’ve got races: a TT cycling race and a 5k running race.
- Lastly, Sunday’s event is a recovery ride. Spin those legs out!
