Vargo VELOCI-TI: 3D-Printed Ti Lugs, Three Sizes, One Big Bet

A titanium cookware company just dropped a $5,795 gravel frame. Vargo, the brand behind ultralight camp stoves and those BOT bottle-pot hybrids bikepackers love, has launched Vargo Bikes with the VELOCI-TI — a lugged titanium gravel rig built around 3D-printed Grade 5 titanium lugs and cold-worked Grade 9 tubing.
The construction method is the headline. 3D-printed titanium lugs aren't new — Bastion, Atherton, and a handful of others have proven the approach — but Vargo's camp-gear pedigree suggests they understand material tolerances and manufacturing consistency at scale. The frame uses a T47 threaded bottom bracket (wider bearing spacing, no creak-prone press-fit), UDH dropouts for current derailleur standards, and 45mm tire clearance. Mount-wise, it's covered: rack bosses, two standard bottle cages, downtube storage mounts, and top tube bosses for bolt-on bags. For a bikepacking-oriented build, that checks the boxes.
Three sizes — small, medium, large — is where things get thin. The geometry numbers look reasonable (71° head angle, 430mm chainstays, 72mm BB drop across all sizes), but effective top tube jumps from 54cm to 56cm to 58cm with no overlap. If you're between sizes or have unusual proportions, you're out of luck or gambling on fit. That's a real limitation on a frame this expensive.
Speaking of price: $5,795 for the frame, $9,895 complete. That's competitive with established titanium builders like Moots or Why Cycles, but those companies have decades of bike-specific refinement and dealer networks behind them. Vargo currently lists one dealer — Marty's Bike Shop in Pennsylvania. Manufacturing almost certainly happens in China, which isn't inherently a problem (plenty of excellent titanium comes from there), but the lack of transparency on build location and warranty specifics at launch is worth noting.
The rider this makes sense for: someone already sold on titanium's ride quality and longevity, drawn to the 3D-printed lug aesthetic, and willing to bet early on a new brand's execution. If you need six sizes, immediate service support, or proof of long-term durability, this isn't the move yet. Vargo clearly knows titanium. Whether they know bikes as well remains to be seen.
