Support Trails, Win an Ibis Ripmo

SANTA CRUZ, CALIF. – Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship (SCMTS), a 501(c)(3) trail stewardship organization, today launched its “Support Trails and Win an Ibis” giveaway. This campaign will raise funds for trail construction and maintenance and give away one limited edition 40th anniversary Ibis Cycles Ripmo outfitted with FOX suspension. The grand prize bike celebrates 40 years of fantastic Ibis Cycles bikes with a limited edition paint job in the company’s original 1988 Ibis Super Sport paint scheme. This bike is available in size medium or large and not available for retail sale; the only way to get this special bike is by contributing to this fundraiser.

The grand prize bike is a replica of Ibis’ Enduro World Series race bikes, complete with Shimano XTR drivetrain and brakes, FOX suspension, Maxxis tires, I9 hubs, etc. Drawing entries are just $5 each, and the giveaway closes on September 27 at 11:50 p.m. PT. Secure your entries today by making a contribution here.

Ibis Cycles is a longtime partner of SCMTS, and in 2020 alone, raised over $300,000 for trail stewardship throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains. This giveaway boasts a $100,000 fundraising goal, which will build on Ibis’ foundational support of local trail development and ongoing maintenance.

“There are very few mountain bike brands that have been around for forty years. By supporting SCMTS we hope that the trails that are built become a legacy that lasts another 40 or even 100 years,” said Tom Morgan, President & Janitor of Ibis Cycles. “We produced four anniversary Ripmo frames for our Enduro World Series team. We created one additional frame for our annual SCTMS raffle. We hope this extra special build helps us surpass our fundraising goals.”

Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship (formerly known as Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz) has been building and maintaining fun, sustainable and accessible trails in the Santa Cruz Mountains area since 1994. The organization not only leads trail construction activities; it also transforms trail users into trail stewards through fun, engaging and educational online classes, training programs and in-the-field events. In the months ahead, SCMTS will:

– Break ground on 17 miles of new trails throughout Cotoni-Coast Dairies National Monument, just ten miles north of Santa Cruz.

– Rebuild trails throughout scorched California State Parks like Big Basin, Butano, and Fall Creek Unit of Henry Cowell.

– Host both free and paid online Trail Academy courses to educate trail users about sustainable trail development and maintenance.

– Bring together thousands of volunteers for supervised trail stewardship events at a dozen Dig Days throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains.

“We couldn’t be more excited for the new trails and programs we’re rolling out in the months ahead,” said Matt De Young, executive director of SCMTS. “This giveaway is a celebration of the sense of wonder that amazing trails provide. A love of getting outside is what’s powered Ibis for the past 40 years, and while we haven’t been around for quite as long as they have, it’s the same sentiment that fuels our staff, volunteers, donors, and supporters.”
