Pine Cycles FRST: A Steel Gravel Bike Born from Singletrack
Discover the Pine Cycles FRST, a new USA-made steel adventure bike. With progressive geometry, 58mm tire clearance, and UDH dropouts, it's built to excel on any terrain.

The definition of "gravel riding" is expanding. What started on dusty fire roads has evolved to encompass technical singletrack, multi-day bikepacking routes, and everything in between. In this evolving landscape, a new breed of bike is required—one that doesn't just tolerate varied terrain but thrives on it. Enter the Pine Cycles FRST (Full Rigid Single Track), a steel adventure bike engineered from the ground up to redefine capability and inspire confidence wherever the path may lead.
The FRST is the culmination of a vision that began not with a frame, but with a fork. Pine Cycles founder Kevin McClelland was instrumental in the design of the now-iconic ENVE Adventure Fork during his tenure at ENVE. Created to meet the demands of custom framebuilders, it set a new benchmark for tire clearance and versatility. Now, the story comes full circle as McClelland builds the very frame he envisioned for that fork, creating a perfectly integrated machine that blends form and function.
Born from Experience, Built for Adventure
The FRST wasn’t designed in a lab. Its geometry and feature set were forged over thousands of miles on the demanding trails and gravel roads of the American West. From the flowing singletrack of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail to epic bikepacking races like the Dark Divide and The Big Lonely, real-world testing shaped the FRST into a bike that is both a capable singletrack shredder and an efficient long-distance hauler.
The result is a bike with what Pine Cycles calls "progressive geometry." This translates to a stable and confidence-inspiring ride on steep, technical descents without sacrificing the responsiveness and efficiency needed for fast-paced gravel grinds and long days in the saddle. It’s a design that encourages riders to link together their favorite gravel routes and singletrack sections into one seamless, epic ride.

Innovation in Steel: A Masterclass in Details
At the heart of the FRST is a masterfully crafted steel frame, proudly made in the USA from a custom blend of Columbus Spirit, Life, and Zona tubing. This premium selection ensures a ride quality that is stiff where it needs to be for power transfer, yet compliant enough to smooth out rough terrain—the signature ride feel that has made steel a revered material for generations.
The innovation doesn't stop with the tubing. Key features of the FRST include:
- Massive Tire Clearance: With room for up to 700c x 58mm (or 29" x 2.3") tires, the FRST offers class-leading clearance. This allows riders to run high-volume tires for maximum comfort and traction, effectively turning rough singletrack into a manageable and enjoyable part of any adventure.
- Custom Tabula UDH Dropouts: Developed in collaboration with RatKing Frames and machined by Forager Cycles, the new Tabula dropouts are a game-changer. They provide compatibility with SRAM's modern Transmission drivetrains via the Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) standard while maintaining the slim, elegant aesthetic of classic steel frames.
- Purpose-Built for the Long Haul: The FRST is ready for any expedition. A large front triangle accommodates ample frame bag space, while triple pack mounts on the ENVE fork and a third bottle mount under the down tube provide extensive carrying capacity for water and gear on self-supported journeys.

The One-Bike Quiver for the Modern Adventurer
The Pine Cycles FRST is more than just a new gravel bike; it's a statement. It represents a vision for a bike without boundaries—one that is "endlessly capable, elegantly simple, and ready for whatever road or trail lies ahead."
Whether you're aiming for the podium at a gravel race, embarking on a cross-country bikepacking ultra, or simply looking for one beautifully crafted bike that can truly do it all, the FRST is built to be your trusted companion.
