Another flat year for American rider participation at the Tour de France. With just four confirmed starters, the American presence at this year’s Tour de France will be slim.

It’s a sad continuation of the flat trend in American Tour participation, and highlights the diminished role U.S. riders now play in cycling’s most important stage race. Since a relative high of 9 riders in 2014, American riders have only made up between 3 and 5 riders at the Tour de France each year.

Starting this year from the U.S. are Ben King (Dimension Data), Chad Haga (Sunweb), Tejay van Garderen (EF Education First) and Joey Rosskopf (CCC).
