Mavic Upgrades Cosmic SLR 45 with Ceramic Bearings and Lighter Rims
Mavic updates its Cosmic SLR 45 wheelset with ceramic bearings for less friction and a new carbon layup for significant weight savings. Learn about the upgrades.

Mavic has rolled out a significant update to its versatile Cosmic SLR 45 wheelset, focusing on reducing both friction and weight for a faster, more efficient ride. The new wheels now feature high-performance ceramic bearings, which Mavic claims reduce rolling friction by an impressive 28%. This upgrade is paired with an advanced adaptive carbon layup in the rims, resulting in a substantial 70-gram weight reduction per rim and bringing the total wheelset weight down to a competitive 1,480 grams.
These upgrades build upon the Cosmic SLR 45's proven design, which includes a 23mm internal width optimized for 28-32mm tires to achieve superior aerodynamic performance. The wheelset retains its signature Fore Carbon technology, featuring an un-drilled upper rim bed that creates a 100% airtight, tapeless tubeless setup for maximum reliability and ease of use. This construction, combined with a no-contact spoke lacing design in the ID360 hubs, ensures exceptional stiffness, optimal power transfer, and long-term durability.
