Limited-edition Kraftwerk Canyon Ultimate

Canyon bicycles has announced that it is collaborating with electronic music group Kraftwerk to produce a limited edition run of bikes that look straight out of  Tron.

The limited run of 21 bikes will be called the Ultimate CF SLX Kraftwerk, each will feature a geometric black-and-white design that matches Kraftwerk’s signature aesthetic developed by Ralf Hütter. Every reflective strip in the design is cut to measure and hand-laid, taking a total of seven hours per frameset to complete.

As the Tour de France kicks off in Dusseldorf, Germany this weekend, where Kraftwerk originally hails from,  Time Trial World Champion Tony Martin will begin the race on a Canyon Speedmax CF SLX bearing the same design. In addition, Kraftwerk will perform Tour De France Soundtracks at a Düsseldorf concert following Saturday’s race.

Kraftwerk has a long history with cycling and the Tour de France. In the 1970s and early ‘80s, Hütter  would ride up to 200 kilometers a day. In 1983, the band recorded the single “Tour de France” and 20 years later, produced the album Tour de France Soundtrack.

Canyon’s Kraftwerk bikes will be available on Canyon’s website starting Monday, July 3rd, with a retail price of ‚¬10,000 ($11,411.90 USD).
