Is 32-Inch the Future of Gravel? Chiru's VELDT Frameset Makes the Case

Chiru's VELDT is the first 32-inch gravel bike—faster rollover than 700c, but you're betting on a wheel standard that doesn't exist yet.

Is 32-Inch the Future of Gravel? Chiru's VELDT Frameset Makes the Case

Chiru's VELDT is the first gravel frameset designed around 32-inch wheels — a size that splits the difference between 29ers and the old 36-inch experiments nobody asked for. The idea: better rollover than 700c, less weight penalty than true monster-trucking. The frame is triple-butted Grade 9 titanium with a 3D-printed T47 BB cluster, clears up to 2.4" rubber, and comes with a custom ti fork. At 1.75 kg for the frame and 9 kg built (no components list provided, so I can't verify the build spec), it's competitive if you're already spending four grand on a frameset.

Here's the catch: 32-inch is not a standard. You're locking into a wheelset size with exactly one fork option right now and limited hub/rim availability. If you break a spoke in rural Wyoming, good luck. Chiru says they're pushing a new industry standard, but unless component makers follow, you're beta-testing someone's vision. The geometry looks reasonable for a size L/XL (no smaller sizes yet), but I haven't put miles on it. If you want proven ti durability and you're fine being an early adopter with access to a good wheel builder, it's interesting. If you need parts at any bike shop, wait.
