Utah-based direct-to-consumer brand Ari Bikes has unveiled the third iteration of its flagship carbon gravel bike, the Shafer 3.0. More than a simple refresh, the new model is a ground-up redesign that thoughtfully incorporates modern trends from the mountain bike world to create a lighter, more capable, and versatile platform. Ari aimed to build a bike that could adapt to the modern rider's evolving needs, stating, "From high-speed champagne gravel to the backcountry bikepacking epics, the all-new Shafer 3.0 is ready to help riders capture a PR or bag the route they’ve been dreaming of."

The most significant updates begin with the frame itself. Through refined tube shapes and junctions, Ari shaved over 200 grams, bringing a size medium frame to an impressive 928 grams—all while testing it to their more rigorous cross-country mountain bike standards. This lighter chassis now boasts massive tire clearance, comfortably fitting up to 700x58c (29x2.25") rubber. To handle rougher terrain, the geometry is suspension-corrected for gravel forks with up to 60mm of travel, like the RockShox Rudy XL. Further borrowing from its MTB cousins, the Shafer 3.0 now includes a "Cache" in-frame storage compartment in the downtube, a Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) for future-proofing, and size-specific chainstay lengths—a premium feature that ensures a balanced ride feel across the entire size range.
Despite these high-end features, the Shafer 3.0 maintains Ari's reputation for outstanding value. With five complete builds starting at just $2,549 for a carbon frame equipped with Shimano CUES, the bike presents a compelling package for a wide range of riders.
