Video: Underground Railroad Ride

This September John Shackleford, a 25 year old NYC bicycle messenger, will traverse 1,114 miles on bicycle along an on/off road route known as the Underground Railroad.

Where black people have come from (freedom from slavery), to where black people are today (freedom from police) is there a difference, where are we safe, are we free? John’s journey is a medium to process this struggle.

This is adventure cycling, a discipline lacking representation by POC.

This is a black cycling story told through activism and adventure.

The mission is to stay positive, empower, and inspire.

The thousands of miles, the bad weather, the traffic, and the racism will not bring us down. It will fuel us.

A call to action is sent out asking anyone to join this moment in history. Making our ride accessible to the masses.

We end this journey with a critical mass bike ride through DC.
