Video: DER JUNGE MUSS VON DER STRASSE

Voiceover by Marc Maurer:

Back in the days I always thought I need to ride as many kilometers
or meters in elevation as possible
Or that I have to have a high average speed
At some point I realized that it was total nonsense
I just want to have fun and want to be free riding my bike.
I donâ ‚¬ „¢t want to torture myself all the time
I just donâ ‚¬ „¢t like the whole performance idea

If youâ ‚¬ „¢re out riding with a group of roadbikers for instance, nobody is smiling
Everyone has a dead serious expression on their faces
thatâ ‚¬ „¢s simply not my world

For me, riding my bike means moving myself,
being in nature, being exposed to the elements, doing sport,
exploring new cultures, travelling,
For me, riding my bike means happiness
Jap, thatâ ‚¬ „¢s it basically

There is no weather where I woulnâ ‚¬ „¢t ride my bike
I actually ride at any type of weather
It doesnâ ‚¬ „¢t matter if it snows, rains, storms, itâ ‚¬ „¢s windy, foggy or butt ass cold.
I simply love being outdoors enjoying riding my bike at any type of condition.

For example, I would never ride on a wheeltrainer at home, I would never do that.
For me, the entire idea of riding your bike would get lost.

You realize how little you actually need in life
You donâ ‚¬ „¢t need a lot of equipment for being happy or being able to travel.
All I need is a small tent, a camping stove, a sleeping pad and sleeping bag and Iâ ‚¬ „¢m totally fine.

I love to immerse myself in other cultures and getting to know other countries intensively
Itâ ‚¬ „¢s just a whole lot nicer for me to travel for a long time

Of all things in life, freedom is most important to me.
And when Iâ ‚¬ „¢m on my bike I feel absolute independence

My name is Marc Maurer and I ride bikes.
