Introducing the DISTANZA: A Groundbreaking Gravel/Off-Road Shoe with a Unique Outsole
DISTANZA presents an innovative, crag-inspired outsole that envelops the toe and heel areas for enhanced durability, protection, and a distinct design.
Constructed around a carbon composite core, the outsole features molded sticky rubber that extends over the toe and around the heel for a rugged appearance. The ultra-stiff carbon sole ensures optimal power transfer, while the inventive rubber molding design incorporates large lugs for traction, protection, and unparalleled walking comfort.
Similar to the UDOG road model Tensione, the DISTANZA gravel shoe integrates UDOG’s patented Tension Wrap System (TWS). This dynamic system uses TPU laminated straps to wrap the insole from one side to the other, embracing the metatarsal area for an optimal fit and unmatched ride-feeling throughout the pedal stroke. The hybrid lace-up closure structure offers 16 contact points between the foot and shoe upper, securing the foot for comprehensive support during riding, hiking, and walking. Distanza also includes additional webbing eyestays for enhanced comfort and closure options.
Designed with comfort as a priority, DISTANZA is shaped to provide a spacious toe box and a deep heel cup. The shoe’s shape and lightweight upper ensure exceptional comfort during adventures, long rides, or bikepacking trips. The hybrid lace-up closure system enables the use of lighter and more comfortable upper materials compared to standard cycling shoes, while minimizing stitching. The upper is crafted from an innovative three-dimensional engineered mesh that is not only lightweight and comfortable but also durable and breathable.
The UDOG team in Veneto, Italy, designed and tested this product. The region’s diverse landscape, from the Adriatic coast to the rugged Dolomites, cities, and endless gravel riverbanks, inspired the designs. The team rode the area’s favorite trails, from coast to crag and through cities and countryside, to connect with the environment and understand how it can inform their gear and its usage.
