One Ride, One Passion: Thomas Yang's New Cycling Artwork
Singaporean artist Thomas Yang's 56th "100Copies" print, "One Ride," explores the unifying spirit of cycling. Using traditional ink, it depicts cyclists' shared journey.

Singaporean artist Thomas Yang, renowned for his cycling-inspired artwork, has released the 56th piece in his ongoing 100Copies series. Titled "One Ride," this latest work moves beyond simply depicting bicycles and delves into the deeper, unifying spirit of cycling culture.
At first, the print appears abstract – a collection of dynamic, seemingly random brushstrokes. However, a closer examination reveals individual cyclists, each unique in their form, yet united in a forward-moving peloton. This visual representation captures Yang's core concept: that while cyclists ride for diverse reasons and in various styles, a shared essence connects them all.
Yang explains, “One Ride embodies the rhythm of motion and the harmony of a shared journey. The riders, though distinct in their individuality, converge in the same direction—an expression of collective purpose and the unspoken bond among those who ride.”

The creation process itself adds another layer of meaning. Yang employed traditional Chinese inking techniques, using hand-brushed strokes to capture the "energy, grace, and fleeting yet eternal nature of the ride." This method emphasizes the human element, not just in the subject matter, but also in the artwork's very construction.
The limited-edition nature of the 100Copies series adds to the artwork’s exclusiveness. As with previous pieces, only one hundred offset lithographic prints of "One Ride" have been produced. Each print is 840 x 594mm, created on 220gsm Maple Bright paper, and is individually stamped and hand-numbered using the same traditional Chinese ink. This meticulous process ensures that each print is a unique piece of art.
“This piece is a tribute to the unity found in movement, a celebration of the road that brings us together,” says Yang. This sentiment perfectly encapsulates the artwork's message. "One Ride" isn't just a visual depiction of a group of cyclists; it's a meditation on the universal connection found in the simple act of riding.
The prints are available for purchase at $100, plus international shipping, on the 100Copies website (100copies.net).
