Sufferfest Gets a Major Redesign

If you are stuck riding inside, one of the better options available to make the most of your time training is Sufferfest, and it just got a little better. The new Sufferfest Training System app was just released for iOS, mac OS & Windows desktop. The updated version  has a slick new interface, a few new features & extra content to help keep home-bound cyclists from going crazy.

1. SEE EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE DURING WORKOUTS

Choices, choices, choices. The new version of the app allows you to completely customise your ride screen. Choose to show distance, heart rate, power, cadence, good old-fashioned RPE, and speed. Turn the video, music and sound effects on or off.

2. USE MINI-BAR TO WATCH YOUR OWN VIDEOS (MAC/WINDOWS ONLY)

Feel like binging your favourite shows or catching up on viral cat videos while you bang out  Blender? On the  Mac and Windows  version of the app, now you can.  The  minimize player  option allows you watch a video while  still seeing the workout graph and performance targets.

3.   ADJUST 4DP METRICS INDEPENDENTLY

Other FTP-based cycling training apps only allow you to change the intensity of the ENTIRE workout — even your recoveries get harder or easier…which is not how you should be training. The Sufferfest now allows you to individually adjust the efforts in your workouts by altering the intensity of each 4DP metric and the recovery efforts. Now you can turn even the most familiar workout into a new experience. Reduce the Neuromuscular intensity and turn  Violator  into a killer AC workout, or dial down the FTP targets in  Hell Hath No Fury  for an awesome sweet spot session.

4. COLOUR-CODED GRAPHS THAT ONLY 4DP CAN SHOW YOU

With FTP-based training apps, the graph is all the same colour because…well, the entire workout is based on your FTP. With 4DP, though, you can see exactly what energy system is being targeted and which of your 4DP-metrics a particular effort is based on. Those yellow bars? They’re referencing your 5-minute power to set targets. Red is for Neuromuscular Power, orange for Anaerobic Capacity, yellow is for Maximal Aerobic Power, and blue is FTP.

5. NOVID WORKOUTS

Sometimes you just want to put your head down and get it done. To give you more ways to Suffer, the latest version of The Sufferfest Training System also includes a library of new NoVid workouts. Designed by the elite coaches at The Sufferfest Sports Science Division, these are workouts without an associated video, soundtrack, or storyline. To ensure you get the most out of your NoVid sessions, on-screen text will guide you through every step of the workout. Cue up your own tunes, fire up your favourite video, and start getting faster.
