Strava's Amazing New 3D Terrain Heatmaps
Strava just quietly rolled out an update which introduced 3D Terrain to its subscriber-only Personal Heatmap feature. The 3D perspective is to put it simple mesmerizing, especially if you live and ride someplace bumpy.
The image above is a screengrab of my ride during the Lake City Alpine 50. Compared to a 2D map which gives you no indication of elevation gain, the 3D version is pretty incredible. You can see the trail dissapear behind the pass after zagging up the side of the mountain.
To play with the 3D Heatmap, sign-in to Strava and then click here and toggle “Show 3D Terrain”.
