Sagan Bags First Win of the Season
Three-time world champion, Peter Sagan, grabbed his first victory of 2019 on just his third day of racing.

It’s a fresh season of racing for Peter Sagan, and everyone else, he’s got a new haircut, a few new tattoos and for the first time since 2015, he’s not wearing the rainbow stripes. The end result, however, is familiar. Sagan returned to his winning ways for 2019 and it sure didn’t take long. Just three days of racing to be exact. After missing the mark during the opening two sprints, Sagan darted to victory today at the Santos Tour Down Under. In doing so, he erased any doubt about his form coming into the 2019 season.

When it comes time for a long uphill finish, the man is damn near unbeatable. Over the final punchy slopes of the Adelaide Hills, Sagan proved his pedigree. He also beat the stifling Australian heat to get his 110th career victory. It wasn’t unfamiliar territory, though, it was on the same finishing straight, but a different course, where he won a stage last year.

He may be in a different jersey this season, but Sagan is still Sagan. Looks like another exciting season of racing is on the menu.
