The basic problem with the conservative discourse around “parents’ rights” is that it frames children as chattel—that is, as parents’ property.

This piece from Charlotte Dalwood hits the nail on the head, sure it's specific to Canadian politics but it resonates perfectly with what's going on in the US.

From an American perspective, a particularly troubling aspect is the apparent prioritization of a fetus' rights over a woman's, juxtaposed with the precedence of a parent's rights over a child's. This reflects a fundamental misalignment in our approach to rights and autonomy.
