Pachamama CBD Athletic Rub Review

With races cancelled and training disrupted, I’ve been back in the weight-room lately mixing more strength work into my schedule. I, of course, over did it off the bat and ended up with pain in my brachioradialis after doing to many weighted chin-ups. Time to roll out RICE (rest, ice, compression, and elevation) and why not throw a little CBD-based Athletic Rub into the mix.

I won’t cover the science of CBD use in cycling here, I’ve done it extensively elsewhere in my guide on CBD for cyclists. I’ll just say that CBD absorbs best through the skin, it has low oral bio-availability, so I’m attracted towards products that use the transdermal route and this CBD-based athletic rub does just that.

Pachamama’s Athletic Rub is an oil-based salve with a thick, creamy consistency. It rubs in nicely and absorbs quickly, any oiliness is gone within a minute or two. It also smells great, not always true of hemp-based products, there’s just a slight lavendar and peppermint smell.

The jar of Athletic Rub contains 60ml of product with 500mg of CBD total and a small amount goes a long way. I find a fingertip or two to be plenty for most aches and pains. After several weeks of use, I’ve worked my way through approximately a quarter of a container.

When it comes to pain relief, I’ve found Pachamama’s Athletic Rub pretty impressive. It’s made a noticeable difference on my strained forearm and I’ve used it on my knees after grueling rides to great success. The CBD-based rub has allowed me to forego oral NSAIDs like ibuprofen which is something I appreciate as it absolutely wrecks my stomach.

Overall, Pachamama’s Athletic Rub is a great topical CBD-based pain-reliever that goes on easy, doesn’t make a mess and smells great.
