Lachlan Morton Finishes Colorado Trail in Under Four Days
The Colorado Trail is a 500-mile route from Denver to Durango, Colorado that includes 70,000 feet of climbing.
Last month Morton competed in the first edition of the GBDuro – a self supported off-road race from Land’s End to John o’Groats. He finished 39 hours before the next best placed rider. Following his incredible performance at the GBDuro, EF Education First rider Lachlan Morton set his sights on completing the Colorado Trail.
Morton’s first attempt saw him finish the route in just 3 days and 22 hours – that’s just 2 hours short of the all time record.
‘I was totally destroyed afterward,’ he said. ‘It was a pretty wild experience… my goal was to overcome a lot of my own fears, I feel like I’ve done that now.’
The Colorado Trail is just the latest exciting event in Education First’s ‘Alternative Calendar’. What’s next? In two weeks, the 27-year-old Australian will take on the Three Peaks Cyclocross challenge – the hardest cyclocross race in the world.
