Jumbo-Visma Takes Decisive TTT Win in 2019 Tour de France Stage 2
Two days into the Tour de France and Jumbo-Visma already has two stage victories. The Dutch team took a decisive win in today’s stage 2 team time trial in Brussels, leaving Ineos in their dust by a good 20 seconds to secure the victory. Stage 1 winner Mike Teunissen will keep the yellow jersey another day.
“It was a really big goal for us,” Teunissen said. “Yesterday it was mainly me who took the credit but it was already a team effort. Today, we were eight really strong riders, but also everyone around us, staff, trainers, mechanics, everyone worked so hard for this.”
Ineos was the first team off the start ramp, a horrible placement in any time trial, but despite not having a time to beat the British squad set an excellent course time of 29:17. Throughout the day one team after another couldn’t best Ineos’s time. Deceuninck-Quick-Step came close with a time just one second slower, but it wasn’t until the last team on the road rolled in that the Ineos pace was finally beaten.
Nice blast around Brussels with the boys! Unfortunately no win, but there was no beating Jumbo Visma today 🎩 #chapeau #tdf2019 pic.twitter.com/AlvuXl17Po

The yellow and black didn’t hold back either, Jumbo-Visma set a winning time of 28:57 with Teunissen, Wout van Aert, Steven Kruijswijk, Tony Martin, and George Bennett all finishing together. Not a huge surprise to see the team that was working with Dan Bigham last month took the win.
Update from yesterday: Insane Bunny Hop by Jan Tratnik in Stage 1!
