The motorbike and helicopter footage we all get to enjoy on NBC at 6am is pretty great stuff, but it always leave you, the viewer, a safe distance from the action. Most of the year I hate GoPros, no I do not want to see a first person view of you shredding some 2 foot jumps. But when it comes to Tour de France time I can’t get enough. Strap a mini high def camera to some pro cyclists, pack them in a peloton traveling along at 40 mph with mere inches separating 190 cyclist from one another and you’ve got a recipe for some truly fantastic footage. A perfect supplement to the standard 4 hour footage.
