Twelve dollars for a water bottle that won't make your electrolyte mix taste like a science experiment gone wrong. That's the pitch behind Fabric's Gripper V2, which embeds an antimicrobial agent directly into the plastic rather than coating it on the surface.
The practical upside: no more scrubbing out that funk that builds up after a few weeks of summer rides. Fabric claims the treatment is permanent, meaning it should outlast the bottle itself. Whether "permanent" holds up after 18 months of dishwasher cycles and UV exposure remains to be seen — antimicrobial additives vary wildly in durability depending on the chemistry. But the concept addresses a real problem. Anyone who's grabbed a bottle from the back of the gear closet mid-ride knows the taste.
The other update targets vanity, sort of. Instead of printed graphics that peel after a season of cage rub, the Gripper V2 uses an embossed logo. Scratches actually make it more visible, not less. A small thing, but if you're tired of bottles that look trashed by August, it's a thoughtful fix.
