Dylan Johnson Hit By Truck, Out of Unbound Gravel with Broken Tibia
Elite gravel racer Dylan Johnson hit by truck, suffers broken tibia. Will miss Unbound Gravel despite intensive training. Remains positive for late season.

Elite gravel racer and popular YouTube personality Dylan Johnson announced via Instagram that he was hit by a truck during a training ride on Monday, May 19th, resulting in a broken tibia. The timing is incredibly unfortunate, as Johnson will now be forced to sit out the upcoming Unbound Gravel, a pinnacle event of the gravel season less than two weeks away, for which he had been meticulously preparing and "was very pleased with how my Unbound block went."
Known for his detailed YouTube content exploring cycling tech, aero optimization, and tire choices—often with a specific focus on Unbound—Johnson's withdrawal is a significant blow. He had recently been in the wind tunnel optimizing for the event and maintains an average weekly training load of 471 miles and 25 hours. Despite the setback, Johnson expressed a resilient outlook on Instagram, stating, "it’s a major bummer not to use that fitness that I gained... I know it won’t be time wasted, though. Hopefully, it’ll act as a base for the late season."
