Hot and Humid? Casio’s Latest Watch Says “Bring It On”
Casio’s new sauna-proof CPP-002 watch thrives in hot, steamy conditions. Learn about its features, crowdfunding details, and why it’s the perfect companion for your next steam session.
If you’ve ever scalded your beloved watch while chasing that post-sauna zen, Casio’s new gadget might be your saving grace. The CPP-002 is designed to thrive in ultra-hot and ultra-humid environments—precisely where you’d expect most wearable tech to throw in the towel. Complete with a 35.44mm body and a trusty 12-minute timer (perfect for timing your next steam session), this watch comes with a heat-resistant battery purported to last about five years. And, for those who like a little aquatic workout to go with their sweat lodge, it’s water-resistant down to 50 meters. Not too shabby for a device that might spend most of its time braving a swirl of hot steam or pool splashes.
There are three models to pick from: the black/white/orange CPP-002-OR, the super-sleek CPP-002-BK, and the black-and-blue CPP-002-BU. The latter was co-designed with the sauna platform Sauna Ikitai, which makes sense if you’re investing in serious steam-room style. Currently being crowdfunded on Japanese platform Makuake, the watch ranges from roughly ¥10,000 to ¥11,000 (or about $60 to $70) during the campaign. It remains to be seen if this wearable wonder will expand beyond the crowdfunding stage, but if you like to keep track of time while cooking yourself in 200-degree bliss, Casio just might have your back.
