Weekly Roundup: the Ultimate Gas Guzzler, How to Get Hit by a Train on Your Bike and Hemp’s Back (Almost)

It’s been a long post-holiday week, but Friday is upon us, finally. Here’s all the cool stuff I didn’t get to this week.

Ingrid Michaelson and Leslie Odom Jr. — “All I Want for Christmas is You”

Love it or hate it, it’s Christmas music time, and this cover of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You”, is on point.

Muscle Car Swallows A 1/4 Tank In 30 Seconds

This is a video of a heavily modified 1968 Dodge Charger is equal parts funny and horrifying. Chugging a quarter tank of gas in thirty seconds on the road is not normal.

“This video took place in Daytona Beach, Florida. My father and I were driving to a car show at Daytona International Speedway on Thanksgiving weekend. Along the way, I noticed his gas gauge quickly moving to empty and decided to record the process in his 1968 Dodge Charger. The end result was us getting stranded because we literally couldn’t make it to the next gas station.”

End of Space — Creating a Prison for Humanity

The Kurzgesagt YouTube channel with a very interesting video on how humanity could accidentally shut the door to the future:

Space travel is the most exciting adventure for humanity, but in an irony of history we may stop ourselves from going into space the more we do it. With every rocket launched we are creating a deadly trap for mankind.

I think there’s a scene in WALL-E that addresses, albeit reality is a whole lot mot terrifying.

Congress is close to introducing legislation that could make hemp legal to grow in the United States for the first time in nearly a century. In doing so, Congress would finally remove CBD from the legal gray area it currently exists in.

The House and the Senate both need to officially vote on the new legislation, which is expected before the end of the year. As Hauser says: “We’re still in infancy at the precipice of a new business which other industrialized countries have had for decades.”

Where are the iPhone XR Cases?

I just got a new iPhone XR and I ran into a perplexing problem, Apple doesn’t make any cases for the phone. This is despite Apple calling it the best selling iPhone, missing out on an opportunity to upsell just doesn’t seem like them…

More interesting, Apple continues to add to its lineup of iPhone XS cases. Apple is now selling three additional colors of silicone cases and watch straps on the Apple Store in yellow, green and pink (via MacRumors). That brings the total to 12 cases for the XS to the XR’s zero.
