This Interview with Amazon’s Jeff Bezos from 1999 is Worth a Watch

In 1999, 60 Minutes paid a visit to Jeff Bezos at his humble Seattle office. Amazon was just five years old, but the company already had a stock market valuation of $30 billion. Bob Simon conducted the interview, which begins with him maligning the companies location which was near a pawn shop, needle exchange and “porno parlor.” Simon likens the office space to a “college dorm” and gave Bezos a hard time for his desk (a door on 4×4 legs) and the Honda sedan he was driving at the time. It’s a really interesting video, Simon seems to really struggle with understanding and talking to “new money.” His tone is downright condescending and he seems to mock Bezos for the bulk of the interview.
