A few years ago, I would have laughed at the idea that there would be a market for $400 coolers. I would have laughed even harder if you tried to convince me that the market would blow up. Yeti Coolers really showed me, and now OtterBox is trying to show Yeti. The brand best known for phone cases has just introduced a full line of heavy-duty, modular coolers.
What does a phone case company know about making a cooler? A lot, apparently. Colorado based OtterBox is stepping up with made in the USA, injection molded, bear-unfriendly/beer-friendly cooler models. OtterBox’s first cooler attempt is a shot across the bow of Yeti. The Venture comes in 25-, 45- and 65-quart size options and is rated to hold ice for up to two weeks.
The coolest feature of the Venture is its modular customization options. A range of accessories are available to subdivide the interior, elevate dry goods away from ice and provide a cutting board surface.
Prices are $250, $350, and $400—comparable with the competition.Learn more: Here
