When it comes to ultimate sportscar bragging rights it’s all about the Nürburgring. The 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo was rumored to have pulled off a 7:08 lap time, now that rumor has been confirmed complete with video footage of the run. The time puts the GT-R Nismo about 11 seconds off the pace of the Porsche 918 Spyder and about six seconds quicker than the Lexus LFA. There are even a few driver missteps in the video, so the car might be able to lap it a bit quicker.
I do see a lot of steering correction going on which would imply that this thing isn’t nearly as effortless to drive as most are touting. It looks like it’s constantly threatening to understeer right up to the moment that the electronics kick in and yank the car around the corner.
Nissan now claims that the 595-horsepower GT-R Nismo is the “fastest volume production car” around the track. “Volume” being the key word.
