Felt Unleashes Two Affordable and Capable Gravel Bikes
If you love riding gravel, but don’t want to spend boatloads of cash on a dedicated bike, Felt has a couple new bike that might fit the bill. Picking up where their single speed CX bikes left off, the Breed lineup from Felt is now designed for gravel roads.
Both the Breed 20 and 30 are built from hydroformed aluminum tubes, T47 – 86 bottom brackets, 12 x 142 rear thru axles, and internal cable routing, with flat mount disc brakes formed into the frame and fork. The fork features a carbon construction, 1.125 – 1.5 €³ tapered aluminum steer tube, and a 12 x 100mm thru axle. Both versions are compatible with 650b and 700c wheels.
Felt’s Breed 20 ($2,650) comes stock with a 1×11 Sram Force CX1 drivetrain (40 x 11-42t) and a Praxis Works Zayante crank. Sram Force hydraulic disc brakes do the stopping with 160mm rotors front and back. The Breed 20 comes rolling on a set of 650b Devox GRDB3 SL wheels and WTB Byway tires. The cockpit consists of Devox bars, stem and seat post, and paired with a Prologo Nago X10 saddle.
The Breed 30 ($2,000) comes with a 2×11 Shimano 105 drivetrain (48/32 x 11-34T) coupled with a Praxis Works Alba crank. Shimano’s hydraulic disc brakes use 160mm front and 140mm rear rotors. Again, the build rolls on 650b wheels, this time they’re Devox GR2.1 tubeless ready wheels with WTB Byway tires.
