Cervélo Áspero Gravel Bike

Cervélo Áspero Gravel Bike

In a week of $17,000 e-bikes and $6,000 aluminum road bikes, who’d of thought that a reasonably priced, gravel, speed machine would come from Cervélo of all places?

While most gravel bikes come with the necessary bolts and bosses for bikepacking as well as faster rides, the Aspero is purpose built for gravel racers and gravel enduro riders. Cervélo says that the Aspero’s frame comes with the stiffness necessary for excellent power transfer, while being light enough for fast acceleration and climbing. Plus, it’s aero tube profiles decrease speed losses due to wind.

The Cervélo Aspero has wide clearance for 700c tyres up to 42mm or 650b up to 49mm. Cervélo has also engineered the Aspero’s fork so that its trail can be adjusted to provide more consistent handling when you swap between wheel sizes.

Though, built for speed, you still get a top tube bag mount and the option to fit a third bottle under the downtube. You can also mount a single bottle cage lower on the downtube out of airflow for shorter/faster rides.

Cervélo Áspero Pricing

The Aspero offers a mix of single ring and double ring groupset options. Pricing starts off with the $2800 Apex 1 build. From there, you can grab the Shimano Ultegra and Shimano GRX  two-ring options, both with an Easton EA90 47/32  supercompact chainset for $4000. At the top of range is the  $6000  SRAM Force eTap AXS  single ring build, with a 36 tooth ring and 10-33 cassette, along with DT Swiss GRC 1650 carbon gravel wheelset.

Or you can build one up, the frameset-only option is priced at $2500.

Looks like a normal bike! Doesn’t cost more than most cars! No propriety parts that limit groupset choice! Simple colors! Plenty of tire clearance! Looks like a great machine.
