Canyon’s 2021 Grail Gravel Bike
It’s been nearly two and a half years since Canyon launched its gravel bike with a funky handlebar, now it’s finally getting outfitted with the latest gravel-specific components.
The Grail now comes built up with a variety of component choices: Shimano GRX 1X and SRAM Force eTap AXS 2X configurations. There’s more range in a lot of these new builds. For example, the new Grail 7 1X features Shimano GRX single-chainring drivetrain with a 40T chainring paired to an 11-42 cassette (a 381% gear range).
If you prefer your bike be SRAM-flavored, the new Force eTap AXS Wide group on the Canyon Grail might be of interest. This update replaces the SRAM 1X drivetrains previously featured on several Grail CF SL and CF SLX bikes. The 46/33 chainring is matched to a 10-36 cassette for a good mix of range and spacing.
Another notable change is the short-nosed Fizik Argo saddle now featured on all bikes in the range.
Canyon is offering seven models with the new specs — including women’s-specific builds — in the United States.
