Totaling watch sales through year-end 2017, every Swiss watch maker combined outsold the Apple Watch — 24 million to 18 million. But the final quarter of 2017 marked a major shift, Apple took the lead for the first time with eight million sold versus about six-and-half. Apple’s third model release seems to have accelerated interest in the Apple Watch. I moved to the Apple Watch late last year upon the cheerless realization that it was the best fitness watch available that would easily integrate with all the apps and services I already use, and in that regard it has not disappointed. Pretty incredible to see the uptick in adoption, even accounting for mass makers like Swatch, Apple has taken over the timepiece market.
